The Flaming Skirt Festival
Sunday 28th June, a one day pop-up festival on a bus! Includes walks, stop offs, creative activity, performances...  leaves from Ironville, Derbyshire.

Love Parks Festival
Saturday 25th July, Eaton Park, Norwich.
The event includes our walks around the park with our interactive kit, a celebration of submarines on the boating lake and more!

The Light Walks Shop Installation

The final event for our Light Walks For Dark Days project took place in the Bee Inspired Studio in the Mews, Kettering and was a great success. We were able to share our walks and interventions with the community and had a marvellous time reviewing our year. As Finedon featured in two of our walks  and one began in the church yard, we were delighted when the Reverend Richard Coles,  Vicar of Or Lady the Virgin Finedon, kindly agreed to add his voice and thoughts on the importance of walking to our Light Walks Film.

Clues, Compasses and a Light Walks Flotilla

We felt it was important to show our group how to navigate with a map and compass

Jo created a series of clues in jars

which were hidden along our route prior to the walk.

Once joined by the group Jo explained what we would be doing

1. To start, turn SSE.

Follow the footpath SE to a big oak tree, where you will find your next instruction.

2. Continue SE to cross a footbridge over a stream. Follow the hedge S. Follow the footpath into Furnace Lane.

3.  Continue S on Furnace Lane and follow footpath to a fingerpost, where you will find your next instruction.

4.  Take the Byway route SE. Follow it until it meets a footpath heading E to the River Ise. Follow the river N to a bridge.

5.  Sit and listen.

We then did a spot of boat building

and launched them in the fast flowing stream

The weather was set to change at any moment

or lack of sail

worked best

After a brief picnic we walked home, a bit tired, a little wet, very happy.

Carolyn enjoyed the walk so much she did it again with her children, who also made boats which Carolyn launched for them whilst they stayed safely on the shore! We are glad to report that they also and had a totally wonderful time.
